MathMahir ("we", "us"), operated by Mahir Asif from Dhaka, Bangladesh, provides online HSC and admission math courses at mathmahir.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

From your Google account (when you sign in with Google):

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your Google profile picture

We request only the basic openid, email and profile scopes. We never receive your Google password, and we do not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts, calendar or any other Google data.

That you choose to provide:

  • Phone number, college, HSC batch and Facebook profile link (optional, edited from your dashboard)
  • Comments you post under lectures, including text and images you upload

Generated while you use the site:

  • Course enrollment records (which courses you can access)
  • Learning progress: lectures completed, exams opened, and revision counts
  • Notifications you have received and read
  • If you enable push notifications: a push subscription identifier supplied by your browser, used only to deliver notifications to that device
  • Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability

2. How we use your information

  • To create your account and sign you in
  • To give you access to the courses you are enrolled in
  • To show your progress and let you comment on lectures
  • To send announcements about your courses and the platform (in-app and, if enabled, push)
  • To let administrators manage enrollments and support students
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Who can see your information

  • Other students can see your name, profile picture and any comments you post.
  • Administrators can see your name, email, phone, college, HSC batch, enrollments and comments, so they can manage courses and support you.
  • Your phone, college, batch and Facebook link are not shown publicly.

4. Service providers

We use trusted providers to run the site. They process data only to provide their service:

  • Google for sign-in
  • Vercel for hosting
  • MongoDB Atlas for our database
  • Cloudinary for storing course thumbnails and comment images
  • YouTube for playing lecture videos
  • Cloudflare for domain name (DNS) services

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use a secure session cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember your light or dark theme preference. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Embedded YouTube videos load through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account exists. You can edit your profile details at any time from your dashboard, and you can request permanent deletion of your account and data as described on our Data Deletion page. Deleting your account removes your profile, enrollments, progress, comments, uploaded comment images and push subscriptions.

7. Security

Connections to our site use HTTPS. Access to course content is checked on our servers for every request, and administrator functions are restricted to authorised accounts. No online service is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Children

Many of our students are teenagers preparing for HSC exams. Students under 18 should use the platform with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect more information than described above.

9. Your choices

  • Edit your phone, college, batch and Facebook link from your dashboard
  • Turn push notifications on or off from your dashboard or browser settings
  • Delete your own comments at any time
  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version, and significant changes will be announced on the platform.
